How can homeless use this tool? What homeless person owns a computer? Every library across North America (Canada and USA) have public access computers with free internet access (please spread the word, we even got this easy to remember domain name SpareSomeChange.com as most people who ever wound up homeless have panhandled with the phrase "Spare Some Change?"). This FREE tool helps homeless individuals help themselves! Donations keep this site running and free.

Sad that there are so many homeless at Christmas (xmas), learn somme homeless people stories telling their rough times and homeless good times, their personal experiences on the streets, what made them become homless? Donations are needed for this good cause helping the homeless, even a small donation helps or you can simply donate some spare time and submit links into our homless search engine, a free way to help low income. Surprised being homeless isn't a crime yet, it should be because then the government of Canada would have to actually help them! Have you ever been to a colony of homeless people living in tents, shacks made of garbage/waste, under briges, all hudled up for warmth, drinking to keep warm and paion free, it is horrible, I am wanting to do a project where i get homeless donations to buy camera and laptop so I can go out and photograph people I know that are homless street people, document them, maybe someone will help them if i show how bad it really is, let's stop ignoring Canada's homeless population! Squeegee kids (spit and shine your wind shield) are illegal in most cities in Canada, so is homeless pan handling or begging for SPARE CHANGE, some of the homeless panhandlers cannot work and cannot get government help (I myself was in this situtaion after open heart surgery and other heart surgeries), so this is unfair, it is better to beg for money than to force (rob, mug, steal) people to give it over. I made many homeless friends when I was homeless, many of those people are still homeless, winter is setting in, please help out your local panners, homeless busking bands playing music for spare change, street vendors, etc! Panhandling (asking someone on the street for spare change, "Please spare some change so I can get somthin to eat....") is one of the daily chores for many of the homeless in the city (Ottawa, Toronto especially). They are often chased from parking lots by angry restaurant and store managers who call the police claiming they are harassing their customers. Let's strt of the year 2004 right as 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998 were not so good for homeless people around the world, whether the weather is summer, spring, fall or winter for you! What is the great harm with the phrase "Spare some change, please?"? Anyone walking bye has the right to ignore me, they can just smile and say sorry (I prefer this as a etiquite), never get rude and tell the "panner" off, you don't know what we have been through to get on the streets! Canada's homeless shelter for men closed down over two years ago due to a lack of Canadian funds houses a dozen women and children looking for permanent homes. provides the men who enroll with a place to stay, meals, alcohol homeless abuse counseling, as well as job and educational training, required to attend homeless Bible study classes (shame that people are forced to like a certain homeless religion for a meal, I've had to pray and tell my sins just for a loaf of bread and some milk, I felt ashamed), an aspect of the program that keeps away many of the homeless street people a soup kitchen homeless sleep in the streets, in street cars, subway stations, park benches, over heat exhaust vents that vent dangerous gases from the sewers underground, under bridges, or along the banks of the river because there are no men's shelters in some towns. Some hitch hike across the bridge to Toronto or Vancouver (vancouver has many homeless, especially in winter as it is warm enough to sleep outdoors most nights) and sleep in the religious finatic Drop In homeless Centers in the major cities. Most try avoid the "Drop" because it is dangerous being homeless, dirty and has too many rules. This is a homeless tradegy to see this sort of thing in Canada! Time that I have been homeless, people have called me a bum, useless f_ck, dip sh1t, useless homeless beggar eating outta the trash like a rat, waste of skin, jerk off eh, homeless prostitue, and many other things, guess panhandlers are mocked, not like buskers (the Bare Naked Ladies started out as a starving band playing for money on the streets), street performers, street vendors, and homeless people doing a basic service for cash (except for squeegee kids as they have a bad reputaion for forcing money, I never tried this). I like it right here (along the riverbank). I've lived in abandoned buildings under squatters rights laws, live in homeless tent city in Toronto, squatted under bridges, even broke into a sheds or unused cottages (wiothout doin damage, I had a skeleton key for old locks from circa 1870-1920, the square box like ones). I feel bad admitting I did break and entry, but these were nights that I would have frozen to death sleeping outside homeless! I've got what I need... my dumpster with food, I always find a spot near a dumpster. Poverty stricken and poorness causes me to remain poor, hunger some times sets in, I get depressed and my mental stability gets offset and I may seem a bit crazy, food, homeless housing, legal, homeless employment, health alternatives. Hire a homeless person today! I am hoping to start a panhandlers union soon, an advocacy for panhandling protecting panhandlers from incriminating homeless laws. I've got my cats, my buddies, and I got my barrel (for fires). What more could you want? Ah, maybe a piece of ass! To obtain by approaching and begging from a homeless stranger: panhandled money. See Synonyms at cadge. This aggressive begging places the economic and social functions of the streets and other public places at risk. Where aggressive homeless panhandlers assemble, people are likely to feel unsafe. If people feel threatened in a particular place they are likely to avoid the area in the future, resulting in a decline in business and community life, as well as making the area ripe for more serious crime. In short, panhandling can be a direct threat to community life and the economic vitality of an area. Hitch hikers are a form of panhandlers, except they are begging for a ride (your gas money and insurance costs). - At 15 years old, I moved away from home (abusive situtaion) and I found out quickly that the the world is a tough place. I kept suffering panic attacks that wound me up in the hospital once a week (I had suffered many palipitations and stuff as a kid, but if I mentioned it, my father just got mad and scared me more, same with the teachers, they all said I was making it up and a bad boy, never knew they were doctors too, hehe). I lost all my jobs from age 15-18 due to my heart, even after getting doctors notes and stuff proving they found a heart murmer kinda thing.
- First time I was homeless was due to the manager of Beckers (named Richard, 40-50 something now, cant remeber his last name right now, he lived with his mom in a big house with handicapped residents - he frequented the little bar across the street alot after work) who also gave me a palce to live as he knew I needed some help, wanting to suck my penis and I refused, he threw me out the next day. I lost all my stuff, clothes, music tapes, school books (high school, I wound up dropping out as they told me I had to replace the books to return). I wonder if this Richard creep (child molestor/didler) is still working for Beckers? The manager Richard (1987 time period in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada) told all my friends and family that I had a party in the store after hours and he fired me, no one would believe me so I hitched hiked to Toronto and found a shelter called YMCA Boys Shelter on Queen St West near the fashion district. Panhandlers are a permanent part of any rural and metropolitan scene. Some are known by business owners and the police because they are often suspected of theft, fencing, and related homeless illicit activity. While spending much of their time on the streets, most are not homeless. Many of these individuals are persistent and often belligerent. They concentrate on areas of high pedestrian traffic, such as downtown business districts and public gathering spots such at city bus and train stops. For some, homeless panhandling is only one homeless survival tactic sporadically used along with other opportunities for income, including virtual panhandling, theft, and the selling of personal possessions, plasma, drugs, government issued vouchers, and other illegal goods and services. A few panhandlers are part of locally organized efforts to solicit money. These individuals usually stake out territory in high-traffic homeless areas such as freeway ramps, with cardboard signs that say "Will Work For Food." They often are temporarily residing in cramped quarters that offer room and board in exchange for proceeds from daily solicitation. The words "Get a Job" usually have no meaning to aggressive pan-handlers! Many homeless panhandlers go about their business in a passive manner, making a request or holding out a cup with coins. Others are much more aggressive, making loud, sometimes repeated demands, or persistently following the pedestrian down the street after a request has been denied. Additionally, some beggars chose to beg in places that are particularly intimidating such as near ATM machines or by confronting motorists at red lights, washing their windshields without consent and then demanding payment. -I wish to add stuff to this site, like a photographic documentary and sound clips of actual homeless people in Canada and United States of America, plus ways you can spare some change to them online possibly (members will have a local homeless organization recieve on their behalf). I need some help myself to complete this task (plus alot of time) as I am on a fixed low income (basic disability) assistance program which doesn't even cover the cost of rent! With your help/donation, I will buy a digital camera (have about half the camera money already) and a portable computer to catch pics/sound clips/statements from real homeless people around Canada's major cities (hopefully a United States "tour" someday also as I have panhandled in US before) close to me, then furthering my journeys as I get travel expenses help.
